Marcus Lattimore injury puts Florida Gators in advantage

South Carolina Gamecocks’ coach Steve Spurrier said his junior star running back Marcus Lattimore couldn’t practice this Wednesday because of a bruised right hip. As a result he might not start against the Florida Gators this Saturday. This gives the Gators a great advantage against the Gamecocks. Spurrier told that Lattimore was running fine earlier in week, but due to his injury he joined the Wednesday practice as a spectator from the sidelines. If Lattimore can’t play Spurrier believes his backup freshman Mike Davis and Kenny Miles would be enough to handle the pressure against the Gators. Recently Gamecocks have been facing injuries, "We're sort of banged up all of a sudden," said Spurrier. He, another star, DE Jadeveon had only been practicing limited because of his foot injury. DT Kelcy having shoulder injury is also doubtful. And also the flu bug also kept some Gamecocks off the fields. But the Gamecocks WR Ace Sanders said otherwise about Lattimore, "I don't know anything about those (injury) reports. … He looked fine to me." he said. Meanwhile the Gators coach Will Muschamp’s three injured players LT Xavier Nixon (undisclosed upper body injury) C Jonotthan Harrison (right arm) and LG James Wilson (eye), had just returned to practice and are expected to play in the next game. So it is to say that the Gators are facing happy times while the Gamecocks are having so to say injury time. In spite of his injury Marcus Lattimus leads the SEC rushing yard records the last season. Having lost the game in Baton Rouge last Saturday, it is the gamecocks whose backs are against the wall. So they have to stand against the Gators in spite of the injuries. But to do this the Gamecocks have to face the strong defense system, also best rushing offense and mostly the hostile environment. Les Miles and his staff were able to draw a game plan that hid the weakness of the LSU & weakening the South Carolina to save their season. It is high time for Steve Spurrier and Lorenzo Ward to minimize those weaknesses. So to say the game between the South Carolina and the Florida Gators next Saturday will be the game that mostly sets the fate of the SEC East.
